Marco Mizzau is a Chairman, CEO and private capital operator with over 26 years of experience in building, scaling and transforming industrial and technology platforms across Europe.

He currently serves as Chairman of Blacktrace, a London-based strategic advisory boutique supporting corporations, private capital funds and industrial platforms in complex transformation, governance and growth initiatives. He also acts as Senior Advisor to leading global private equity firms, including Advent International and BC Partners.

Over the course of his career, Mizzau has led complex organisations and large-scale industrial transformation programmes across public institutions, major corporate groups and international advisory firms.

Born in Rome in 1977, he graduated with highest honours in Economics from LUISS Guido Carli University at the age of twenty-two. He subsequently completed executive programmes at leading international institutions, including Harvard Business School, INSEAD, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, IESE Business School and Bocconi University.

Mizzau began his career in 1999 as a financial analyst at KPMG Consulting, working on industrial planning and financial analysis for Italian and international groups. He later joined the Ferrovie dello Stato Group, serving within the Chief Executive Officer’s office and contributing to strategic planning and organisational restructuring initiatives.

He subsequently built an international career in management consulting, first at Ernst & Young and later at Accenture, where he became Senior Manager. In these roles, he led strategic programmes for major industrial and energy groups, including Enel, Eni, Acea, and Italcementi, focusing on governance models, industrial planning, control systems, and organisational efficiency.

In 2012, he joined Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome as Chief Operating Officer of the holding entity overseeing both the university and the hospital. He was responsible for core functions including administration, procurement, ICT, investments, and infrastructure, leading programmes focused on operational efficiency, cost optimisation, and the development of new healthcare and technological assets. These initiatives contributed to strengthening the institution’s positioning within the Italian healthcare system.

In 2019, Mizzau was appointed Director General of Inarcassa, one of Italy’s leading pension and institutional investment funds for engineers and architects. During his tenure, assets under management increased from approximately €11 billion to €13 billion, the number of active contributors grew, and investment strategies were strengthened with increased exposure to private markets and real assets. He also introduced advanced asset-liability management frameworks and led key digitalisation and cybersecurity initiatives.

In 2023, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Consip, the company owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance responsible for the national public procurement platform. Under his leadership, Consip achieved the National Recovery and Resilience Plan targets related to the digitalisation of public procurement two years ahead of schedule, strengthening transparency, traceability, and process efficiency.

In 2024, the organisation reported record financial results, managing €27.2 billion in public expenditure (approximately 1.8% of Italy’s GDP) and generating estimated savings of over €4 billion for public finances. During this period, Mizzau also promoted more than 20 strategic partnerships with ministries, regulatory authorities, public institutions, and state-owned entities, reinforcing Consip’s role as a strategic lever of economic policy and public sector efficiency.

Throughout his career, Mizzau has operated in environments characterised by high institutional and economic complexity, leading transformation initiatives focused on organisational redesign, technological innovation, and governance strengthening.

His experience lies at the intersection of public sector, industry, and private capital, with a growing focus on digital transformation and the integration of technology and capital as drivers of long-term institutional and industrial value creation.
